A fresh take on a classic main-street motel, Farmhouse is an idyllic slice of Paso Robles wine country.
Here, the eye-catching red-roofed cottages that house the hotel’s 26 guest rooms maintain all the charm and character of the property’s original architecture (circa 1947). Think: white board-and-batten siding, ranch-style front porches, vintage window panes, and vaulted ceilings with exposed beams.
“[Nomada Hotel Group] purchased the property from Kevin Lee who owned and operated [Farmhouse] for decades, and even lived there with his wife for many years. A few years ago, they were ready to retire and approached our team about purchasing it. They interviewed us many times to ensure our vision would preserve the historical aspects of the property, like the sign and the cottage layout,” said creative director Kimberly Walker.
It was the perfect fit. Using Hotel Ynez’s transformation as the blueprint, Nomada renovated the room blocks; activated the grounds with firepits, fountains, rose gardens, citrus & olive trees, and turned the former innkeeper’s private residence into a cozy lobby and lounge.
“We want guests to feel like they can take their shoes off, walk through the gardens, read a book, drink some delicious local wine, and feel a sense of peace that only nature can provide – all while being a few blocks from downtown Paso Robles."

By name alone, one might assume Farmhouse’s design aesthetic draws from the modern-rustic styles popularized on Pinterest and HGTV over recent years. You know the ones – neutral color palettes accented by industrial touches like shiplap, reclaimed wood beams, rolling barn doors, iron fixtures, black hardware, etc. And in some ways, Farmhouse does embrace those namesake elements, but not without a unique twist – one that’s infused with color and whimsy.
Take the lobby, for example, which is wrapped in a botanical wallpaper pattern featuring leaves, lemons, and blossoms. Delicate pink petal pendant lights hang above the vintage rattan bar that found new purpose as the hotel’s concierge desk. Jute rugs, wicker furnishings, and original artisanal pottery make the space feel more French countryside than American outpost.
Inside the guest rooms, bespoke linen headboards are upholstered with geometric Zak & Fox fabrics and custom lumbar pillows punch up the crisp Casarovea bedding with Jim Thompson’s “Garden Party” patterns. Colorful handwoven Moroccan rugs sprawl across the new hardwood floors and vibrant Susan Hable artworks are displayed on the walls. Statement bathrooms feature hand-tiled, floor-to-ceiling Zellige accent walls and antique tin-framed vanity mirrors.
