Don Pedro The Palm Candleholder

In Store Pick Up Only at Brick & Mortar

Handcrafted by Mexican artist Pedro Hernandez and his family in San Jose Gracida, Michoacán — a region known for their use of natural clay harvested from nearby mountains and the intricate pastillaje technique.

Pastillaje is a technique involving the pinching of thin clay strips between the fingertips to form decorative elements like petals, scales, and spines. These small, pinched pieces are applied to the wet clay and fuse with the object during firing. This unique method allows for the creation of designs that mimic flowers and the spiky features characteristic of pineapples.

These ceramic candleholders were finished with a rich black vidriado (glazing method).
