Tree Of Life Candelabra

This vibrant ceramic sculpture is a Tree of Life candelabra, a traditional form of Mexican folk art rooted in central Mexico—particularly in the towns of Izúcar de Matamoros, Puebla, and Metepec. Originally used by Spanish missionaries to teach the biblical story of creation, these candelabras later became popular wedding gifts, symbolizing fertility and abundance.

This specific design, featuring playful acrobats, was first introduced in the 1950s by renowned potter Herón Martínez Mendoza as a tribute to the circus, blending whimsical modern themes with deep-rooted tradition.
